About the Spatial “sunset”
In an announcement dated May 28, 2026, Spatial said it will sunset its Free / Pro subscriptions and the 3D world hosting tied to them, effective July 27, 2026. Full platform access remains through July 27, 2026.
The sunset is limited to the Creator platform (Free / Pro); Spatial Enterprise continues under existing terms. The stated reason is the rising cost of hosting and scaling multiplayer 3D worlds.
The team is focusing on original IP via an in-house studio, Wooster Games. The announcement does not specifically address coins or credits, so if you hold a balance we recommend contacting support.

What is Roblox?
Roblox is a 3D experience platform used worldwide. People enter 3D spaces — called "experiences" — as avatars and interact with others in the same space.
It is best known for games, but in recent years it is widely used for non-game purposes too: exhibitions, education, events, virtual galleries, and brand experiences. The kind of exhibition or social space you built on Spatial can be rebuilt as a Roblox "experience."
You build with the free official tool Roblox Studio and implement movement and interactions in a programming language called Luau. Once published, anyone can reach it from a browser, phone, PC, or some VR devices — and you can also limit who may join.

Rebuilding on Roblox as an option
There is no one-click move from Spatial to Roblox; the space must be rebuilt to Roblox’s specifications. If you still have the source data or your downloaded assets, a close recreation in Roblox Studio is often possible.
Basic steps to migrate to Roblox yourself
First, here is the rough flow if you migrate on your own. For a small, simple space you can take it this far yourself.
- 1 Download your assets
Download your 3D models, images, and other assets from Spatial (before July 27, 2026).
- 2 Import into Roblox Studio
Install the free Roblox Studio and bring in models and images with the 3D Importer.
- 3 Lay out the space
Place the imported models in Studio and adjust position and scale to assemble the space.
- 4 Publish
Configure publishing and release it as an experience. Private / members-only options are available.
- 5 Add interactions (optional)
Buttons, doors, exhibit switching, and the like are implemented in Roblox’s programming language, Luau.
Roblox Studio is free, and basic placement and publishing can be done without any programming.

Our migration support
From here on is what our migration support handles — the specialized work of publishing cleanly, lightly, and safely.
What we handle for you
- Low-poly conversion / optimization of heavy 3D models to reduce rendering load
- Material and lighting adjustments and visual polish
- Space and flow design in Roblox Studio
- Re-placing and organizing images, signage, and exhibits
- Implementing buttons, doors, exhibit switching, quizzes, etc. in Luau
- Publishing design aligned with the rules (commercial expression, age targeting, private access)
What cannot be done as-is (by Roblox’s design)
- One-click world migration
- Migrating Spatial avatars (must be redesigned to Roblox’s system)
- Running Spatial-side programs unchanged
- Porting the Spatial template environment itself
How the work flows
Data review & migration assessment
We check how it was built (Unity / Creator Toolkit), what data remains, the asset volume, the scope you want to recreate, and the publishing goal — then assess whether it can be rebuilt on Roblox.
Rebuild for Roblox
We import and optimize 3D models, lay out the space, re-place images and exhibits, implement simple interactions, and design flow for your use case.
Policy check & publishing design
We align commercial expression, age targeting, and private/members-only access with Roblox’s publishing rules so it can go live safely.
Rough pricing
- Small rebuilds: from JPY 80,000
- Corporate / organizational exhibits and interactive worlds: custom quote
- Pricing varies by content, data volume, scope, and interactions.
Who we prioritize
- Those who used Spatial for education, research, or community activity
- Organizations using it for exhibitions, events, PR, or training
- Those who want to preserve a world as a showcase or portfolio
Frequently asked questions
Because both Spatial and Roblox publish mainly in English, we have organized what their announcements and docs actually say. Every answer links to its official source.
About the Spatial sunset

What exactly is being discontinued?
What ends is the Free / Pro side of the Creator platform — the Free and Pro subscriptions and the 3D world hosting tied to those tiers. The announcement states the decision applies only to the Creator platform.
Sources: Spatial official announcement — "Spatial Creator Platform Sunset"(2026-05-28)
Will Spatial Enterprise continue?
Yes. The announcement says the Spatial Enterprise platform remains operational and existing enterprise customers will continue to be supported per their current terms. The sunset is limited to the Creator platform (Free / Pro).
Sources: Spatial official announcement — "Spatial Creator Platform Sunset"(2026-05-28) / Spatial Support — "Spatial Subscription Tiers (Free/Pro/Business/Enterprise)"
Why is it being sunset?
The announcement explains that the cost of hosting and scaling open multiplayer 3D worlds has grown significantly and keeps climbing, and that no model was found that would keep the Creator platform viable without passing those costs to independent developers and small studios.

Rebuilding on Roblox
Can I move a Spatial world to Roblox in one click?
No one-click migration exists. Spatial and Roblox are different platforms with different toolchains, data formats, avatars, and scripting. On Roblox you rebuild the space in Roblox Studio using your downloaded assets.
Sources: Roblox Creator Docs — "3D Importer"
What can I import into Roblox Studio?
Using Roblox Studio's 3D Importer you can bring in 3D models and their textures; images and audio can also be uploaded to Roblox. Placement, scale, materials, and flow all need to be re-tuned on the Roblox side.
Sources: Roblox Creator Docs — "3D Importer"
Which 3D file formats are supported?
Roblox’s 3D Importer supports formats such as .fbx and glTF (.gltf / .glb). Heavy models may need to be simplified/optimized to reduce rendering load. See the official 3D Importer docs for specifics.
Sources: Roblox Creator Docs — "3D Importer"
Can I reuse my Spatial avatar on Roblox?
Spatial avatars are out of scope. Roblox uses its own avatar system, so the design follows Roblox’s avatar specifications.
Sources: Roblox Creator Docs — "Avatar"
Will my Spatial interactions / scripts work?
Not as-is. Buttons, doors, teleports, quizzes, exhibit switching, and similar features must be re-implemented in Roblox’s scripting language, Luau.
Sources: Roblox Creator Docs — "Scripting"
Can Roblox be used for non-game purposes?
Yes. Roblox can host exhibitions, education, events, virtual galleries, and brand spaces as "experiences." However, the design must fit Roblox’s audience and publishing rules (such as content maturity).
Audience and age rules
What are content maturity labels?
Roblox assigns each experience a maturity label (Minimal / Mild / Moderate / Restricted) and gates the audience age accordingly. Restricted content is accessible only to age-checked users 18 and older.
What are Roblox Kids and Select?
Announced April 13, 2026 and rolling out from early June, these are age-based accounts. Roblox Kids (ages 5–8) can access only Minimal / Mild with chat off by default; Roblox Select (ages 9–15) can access up to Moderate. Users 16+ use a standard account with no change.
Sources: Roblox Newsroom — "Introducing Roblox Kids and Select Accounts"(2026-04-13) / Roblox Newsroom — "What Families Should Know about Roblox Kids & Select"(2026-05-20)
Can I publish to children (under 16)?
Yes, but with conditions. To be distributed to under-16 audiences (Kids / Select), Roblox states an experience needs 500 unique plays within a 60-day evaluation window from age-checked, highly engaged users aged 16+. Until then, the experience is available to users 16+ and your trusted friends.
Sources: Roblox DevForum (staff) — "Alternate Publishing Requirements for Roblox Kids and Select"(2026-05-11) / Roblox Newsroom — "Introducing Roblox Kids and Select Accounts"(2026-04-13)
“If it gets little traffic, no one can play it” — true?
This is a misunderstanding. Per the official guidance, even if an experience does not meet the distribution requirement (the 500 plays above), it stays published and remains playable for users 16+. It does not become non-playable or get delisted. What you lose is reach to under-16 children (an experience only becomes inaccessible if you set it private or it is removed by moderation).
Sources: Roblox DevForum (staff) — "Alternate Publishing Requirements for Roblox Kids and Select"(2026-05-11)
Does low engagement bump my experience to “17+”?
No. There is no official mechanism by which low traffic or engagement raises your maturity label (e.g. from Minimal) to 17+ / Restricted. Engagement affects which audience tier you reach, not the content maturity itself.
Sources: Roblox DevForum (staff) — "Alternate Publishing Requirements for Roblox Kids and Select"(2026-05-11)
Is there a way to qualify for under-16 distribution sooner?
Roblox provides "Alternate Publishing Requirements." Examples include paying 1,000 Robux per experience (refunded after 90 days), a period of free Roblox Plus for existing creators, or maintaining Roblox Plus / Premium for a set period. ID verification and two-factor authentication are also prerequisites. Always confirm the current terms in the official post.
Sources: Roblox DevForum (staff) — "Alternate Publishing Requirements for Roblox Kids and Select"(2026-05-11)
Is an age check required to use chat?
Yes. On November 19, 2025 Roblox announced it would require facial age estimation or ID verification to use chat, rolling it out globally through early 2026. Users are placed into age groups and can chat mainly within near age groups.
Sources: Roblox Newsroom — "Roblox Requires Age Checks…"(2025-11-19) / Roblox Help — "Understanding Age Checks on Roblox"
Who can create and access 17+ / Restricted experiences?
Restricted (the 17+ policy) experiences require age checks on both the creator and player side. Access is limited to age-checked users 18+, and the storefront (description, thumbnails, video) must remain appropriate for all ages.
Sources: Roblox Help — "Roblox 17+ Policy Standards" / Roblox Help — "Content Maturity Labels"
Does anything change for users 16 and older?
There is no direct change from the introduction of Kids / Select. The announcement states that the experience for users 16+ is unchanged.

Private & members-only publishing
Can I let only invited people play?
Yes. New experiences are private by default, accessible only to you, to users you grant Play / Edit access, and to community (group) members with the right roles. Keeping it private and granting Play access to specific people is the closest thing to an invite-only setup.
Sources: Roblox Creator Docs — "Publish experiences and places" / Roblox Creator Docs — "Collaboration"
Can I make it members-only?
Yes. If the experience is owned by a community (group) and made public, setting Access "Join" to "Community members" lets only members of that community play. For personally-owned experiences you can instead choose "Friends" only.
Sources: Roblox Creator Docs — "Publish experiences and places"
Can only people with a “tester” role play?
Possible, with a caveat. Granting a community (group) role the "Playtest all group experiences" permission lets members with that role play private experiences. However, there is no official feature to restrict play of a public experience to a specific role. For tester-only access, the official pattern is "keep it private + give the tester role Playtest permission."
Sources: Roblox Creator Docs — "Groups (roles & permissions)" / Roblox Creator Docs — "Collaboration"
What is a private server (formerly VIP server)?
A subscription-based feature that lets a user decide who plays with them — an invite-based individual server (previously called a VIP server). Developers can make it free or paid (Robux). The base experience must be public to use it.
How many people can I invite to a private server?
The server creator can specify up to 50 individual users or allow their entire friends list, and can create a share link. Note that players under 13 may be unable to join private servers depending on privacy and parental control settings.
Is inviting to edit different from inviting to play?
Yes. Collaboration permissions are Owner / Edit / Play / No Access. Edit allows editing (and playing) and invites are limited to Roblox friends. Play allows only playing the private experience and can be granted to users or groups. Play access is the right fit for inviting testers.
Are Roblox “Groups” and “Communities” the same thing?
They are the same. On November 21, 2024 Roblox Groups was renamed Roblox Communities. Documentation and scripting still use the term "Group" in places, but the UI name is Communities.
Sources: Roblox DevForum (staff) — "Introducing Roblox Communities"(2024-11-21)
Commercial use & branding
Can I place company names, product images, or logos in my world?
It depends on the content. Placing them is not categorically forbidden, but anything that promotes a real product, service, or store is treated as advertising content and must comply with the Advertising Standards and Community Standards. Fictional names and purely decorative use (not tied to sales) are easier to handle.
Sources: Roblox Help — "Advertising Standards" / Roblox Help — "Roblox Community Standards"
If I own the rights to the assets, can I use them freely?
Even if you own the rights, Roblox’s rules are not waived as long as the content is advertising. If you place ads inside an experience you must clearly disclose that it is an ad, and the developer bears responsibility for the content. See the Advertising Integrations Terms / Immersive ads for the framework.
Sources: Roblox Help — "Advertising Integrations Terms"(2026-05-01) / Roblox Creator Docs — "Immersive ads"
Can I place QR codes or links to external sites?
Be careful. Ads may not use QR codes or URLs to direct users off-platform to unapproved sites or apps. Rather than relying on external links for store visits or purchases, design the exhibit/experience to be self-contained within Roblox.
Can I sell physical products inside Roblox?
Only through the dedicated Roblox Commerce program (the Shopify integration announced in 2025), not via standard ad units. It launched with conditions such as US-only and ages 13+, with checkout handled on the connected Shopify store. Availability and conditions change, so always confirm the latest official information.
Sources: Roblox Help — "Commerce Standards" / Roblox Newsroom — "Roblox Launches Shopify Integration & Licensing Program"(2025-05)
Are there restrictions on food and beverage content?
Yes. Under the Advertising Standards, ads may not promote any food or beverage to audiences under 13, and ads may not be personalized for users under 18. Food/beverage-related experiences aimed at children require particular care.
Have the advertising rules changed recently?
Significantly. New Advertising Integrations Terms took effect on May 1, 2026, and from September 30, 2026 creators are to pay Roblox a CPM-based revenue share (per 1,000 visits) for ad integrations placed in experiences. When considering commercial use, check the latest information against these recent changes.
Sources: Roblox Help — "Advertising Integrations Terms"(2026-05-01)
What if my uploaded image contains a barcode or QR code?
Roblox moderates uploaded images (decals / textures). The Advertising Standards do not allow QR codes, URLs, or partial links — anything that could direct users off-platform to unapproved sites or apps. QR codes are often rejected because they "might send the player somewhere," and a scannable code such as a product barcode can be flagged for the same reason. If you use a photo or packaging image of a real product, it is safest to remove barcodes, QR codes, and URLs first.
Sources: Roblox Help — "Advertising Standards" / Roblox Help — "Roblox Community Standards"
Can I use other companies’ logos or brands? What about my own logo?
You may not use others’ intellectual property (trademarks, logos, characters, etc.) without rights. Roblox removes content upon a valid DMCA or trademark infringement notice; licensed IP is used through the IP licensing program. Roblox also does not permit general use of its own logo (the "Now on Roblox" badge requires following the guidelines, and offline use needs prior approval). Even for a logo you own, if the use is promotional it must follow the Advertising Standards — and avoid embedding URLs, QR codes, or barcodes in the image.
